Song lyrics Challenge - Cupboard Trilogy

Well, here I go again with another challenge.  I had to do this challenge as the subject is very dear to me, I used a much treasured photo, that I keep in a frame, close to my bed.  It is the last photo that was ever taken of me, with my wonderful Dad, before he died.
It took me right out of my comfort zone, as usually, I am a very plain and straight lines type of scrapper, and always air on the side of caution when it comes to LO's, but I really wanted to do my Dad proud, and I actually really like the finished product.  It will now be placed in a 12 x 12 frame and wall mounted.

There is secret journalling behind the photo which reads:

My Hero

Sadly my Dad passed away on the 4th May 2006.
It was my daughter Amy’s 8th birthday.
He died from Primary Cancer of the Lungs
and Secondary Cancer of the Brain.

I chose to do this subject for my challenge,
because my Dad loved life,
and all the people and objects associated with it,
he was always the first one up on anyone’s birthday,
and Christmas, waiting with an excited smile and a silly hat.
He was a very social person, and made friends
wherever he went, be it a party or a trip to the supermarket.
My Dad could make a friend, sitting in the car,
with the doors locked and all the windows shut.
It was his smile that made people talk to him,
it was one of those smiles that comes from the heart.

I chose it because he really was ‘My Hero’ and I told him often.

This was the last photo of me taken with my Dad,
before he died.

He died a week after this photo was taken.

Love and miss you always x

I hope you like it!

  1. Debs, I can not tell you how much your words touched me while reading them, I didn't know your Dad, but they evoked emotion & had to hold back a tear. Was it because I could feel your love for him through the words or was it because I still have my Dad & know that one day in the future I will be writing my words of love & loss too?
Your LO is not only special, but very beautiful too, I particularly love not only the flowers you have built up so wonderfully, but the details with the ribbon & finish on the journaling pocket!
Thank you so much for joining in & good luck in the challenge :)
